Metwally Sweify is a Senior Associate in the Capital Markets department. Prior to joining Dreny & Partners in 2020, his legal experience included several stints at some of Egypt’s most prestigious law firms specializing in international commercial arbitration and corporate law, in addition to, working for corporate in-house departments, leading on high profile domestic and international cases.

Metwally’s expertise expands to a variety of legal sectors, including international commercial arbitration, dispute resolution, and that is through drafting notices of arbitration, statements of claim, defense, rejoinders and other submission before CRCICA and ICC, in addition to attending hearings on merits and procedural hearings, handling arbitration proceedings, executing arbitral proceeding decisions before the Egyptian courts.

Nevertheless, he has a wide experience in drafting and finalizing various types of legal contracts, legal drafting, trademark registration, and general corporate; through establishing companies before GAFI and FRA; drafting and certifying OGMs, EGMs, and BoDs; certifiying an notarizing of contracts; handling investments gazettes before GAFI; and providing comprehensive legal opinion on a broad spectrum of corporate matters.   All of which make Sweify a valued asset of our team.

Metwally is currently specializing in Capital Markets, working on securitization transactions through conducting due diligence, preparing and reviewing of legal documents, reporting securitization portfolios to credit rating agencies, dealing with FRA regarding the submission of securitization files and handling all securitization transaction matters.

Sweify successfully closed a number of high-profile securitization transactions throughout the past years, in addition to, some major contributions in the general corporate and M&A’s department, including the ground breaking Vodacom’s acquisition of 55% stake in Vodafone Egypt; a deal valued at Euro 2.5 billion.

Metwally attended Cairo University, where he received both his LLB and his Post Graduate Diploma in International Law. In addition, he received several trainings at Egypt’s top-tier law firms in various departments, which enriched his expression and exposure in different legal disciplines.

  • Abdel Latif Jameel Finance securitization transaction amounting to EGP 690 million.

  • Bedaya Mortgage Securitization transaction amounting to EGP 958 million from a multi-issuance program with an amount of 3 billion.

  • New Urban Community Authority (NUCA) securitization transaction amounting to EGP 20 billion.

  • Aman securitization transaction amounting to EGP 403.4 million

  • ValU’s issuance of USD 34.5 million from a multi-issuance program amounting to USD 162 million.

  • Al Taamir Leasing and Factoring (Al Oula) 1st securitization transaction for their leasing portfolio amounting to EGP 1.1 billion from a multi-issuance program with an amount of EGP 5 billion.
